Woman Run Over in City of Minnetonka Beach Dies, 1 Arrested

A 57-year-old woman who was hit by a vehicle Thursday night in a Lake Minnetonka town has died from her injuries, according to police.

The incident happened on the 2600 block of Arcola Lane around 8:30 p.m. in the City of Minnetonka Beach. Officers arrived on the scene to find the injured woman and provided first aid until medical crews arrived.

She was airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center, where she died from her injuries, according to the Orono Police Department.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as 57-year-old David Christopher Meder of Minnetonka Beach, was booked into Hennepin County Jail for criminal vehicular operation.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, but alcohol may be a contributing factor, police say.

Minnetonka Beach is a village located on a peninsula on Lake Minnetonka.
