A juvenile is in custody Friday after a man was shot and killed following a confrontation on a bus in North Minneapolis, according to Minneapolis police.
The shooting happened just before 7 p.m. Thursday on a street near 26th Avenue North and Penn Avenue North. Police say they believe it stemmed from a confrontation on a Metro Transit bus that happened earlier in the evening.
Police interviewed witnesses and were following up on leads following the shooting. The boy was taken into custody Friday morning.
One other person had a non-life threatening injury in an unrelated shooting just a few blocks away at 25th Avenue North and Lyndale Avenue North shortly after the first shooting.
The latest shootings come about 2 weeks after Minneapolis Police Chief Janee Harteau toured North Minneapolis, pleading with neighbors to put down their guns.
The visit was prompted by three shootings that happened earlier this month, two of which were fatal.
The police department is adding more police officers to the area during the overnight hours, and officers are also starting to knock on doors after shots are fired to talk with residents about what they might know.
