Falling trees injured two campers, including a 13-year-old girl, early Tuesday morning as storms rolled through the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.
They were part of a group of 17 people who were camping near Lady Boot Bay on Lac La Croix Lake.
The teenager, Hayden Toups, and 47-year-old Kirk Sanchez were in separate tents when they were injured by falling trees. Both were visiting from Louisiana.
They were transported to Essentia Health-Virginia Hospital with the help of Mark Zup, a local resort owner, and the St. Louis County Volunteer Rescue Squad. Their injuries were non-life threatening.
