A west metro mom with a vision is opening a brand new business for kids and adults, which she calls the only one of its kind in the state.
The Play & Learn Cafe in Golden Valley will be a place for kids under the age of 6 to play, learn, and explore; while moms, dads, and caregivers relax with a cup of coffee, grab a bite to eat, or take a yoga class.
"I wanted a place where they could eat, enjoy their meal, where kids could play, have fun, burn their energy from the day," Sarah Bakkum said.
She says the restaurant will be "fit for foodies" with a changing menu.
Separated by glass, the play area will have a rotating look with toys changing based on varying themes and separate spaces for infants and toddlers.
There will be playground monitors, but parents are still expected to keep an eye on their kids.
There will also be special security measures to make sure parents and kids stick together.
However, education is Bakkum's main goal.
She's contracting with nearly a dozen companies to get extra enrichment so kids can take language, music and computer classes.
There will be classes for adults too.
