A 21-year-old man died from injuries he sustained when the car he was riding in collided with a 1-ton truck in central Minnesota on Saturday afternoon.

The crash happened around 4 p.m. on County Road 2 and 270th Avenue Northeast in Kandiyohi County.

Authorities say a passenger car, which was carrying three people, collided with a 1-ton truck on a stretch of road just two miles south of Regal. The two vehicles ended up in a drainage ditch on the west side of CR-2.

The people inside the car were taken to a local hospital. A 21-year-old man who was riding in the passenger seat in the car died from his injuries around 10 p.m. Saturday.

The truck was also carrying three people, none of whom had any apparent injuries after the crash, authorities say.

The Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office is investigating.

The Minnesota State Patrol, Kandiyohi County Rescue Squad, Panyesville and Willmar ambulance, Life Link and the Paynesville, Willmar, and New London fire departments assisted.
