Jet Skier Finds Man's Body in Mississippi River in Brooklyn Park

A jet skier found a man's body in the Mississippi River near the border of Coon Rapids and Brooklyn Park on Saturday night.

Emergency crews were called to the the river on a report of a body face-down in the water around 6:30 p.m.

Andrew Tator of Brooklyn Park was out for a ride on his jet ski when he saw the body on the side of the river south of Highway 610. He monitored the body until authorities arrived, according to the Coon Rapids Fire Department.

It was recovered from the water near 83rd Avenue and West River Road.

Authorities say the body had been in the river for "some time."

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office is investigating.

The Anoka County Sheriff's Office and Brooklyn Park Fire Department assisted in the recovery.
