State: Experts' Look at Sex Offenders is Skewed

An attorney for officials who run Minnesota's sex offender treatment program says the way experts are evaluating the program makes it impossible for them to issue a report favorable to the state.

Attorney Nathan Brennaman on Tuesday renewed his objection to expert reports about two people the experts say shouldn't be in the program.

U.S. District Judge Donovan Frank overruled Brennaman's objection, but he persisted.

He says the experts are focusing only on patients who may be misplaced, and if they don't look at other clients their report expected at the end of August will be skewed.

Dan Gustafson is an attorney for residents who claim the program is unconstitutional. He says Brennaman's objection is frivolous and was made "because he doesn't like how this is turning out."
