Experts appointed to evaluate the Minnesota Sex Offender Program are testifying about their recommendation that one man be immediately freed without restrictions.
In testimony Monday in federal court, psychologist Robin Wilson said the experts found "a number" of other people in the state's commitment program for sex offenders who are "more or less in the same boat" as the man they reviewed. He says they expect to file similar reports for those people.
The experts have also recommended that the only woman in the program be moved.
The testimony comes as part of a lawsuit that alleges the program is unconstitutional because it keeps offenders locked up indefinitely.
The state argues the man should be transferred to a less-restrictive part of the program that will prepare him for release.
