The program "Kids Don't Float" is expanding to more Hennepin County lakes within the next few weeks.  A new box filled with children's life jackets is now located at the French Regional Park boat launch on Medicine Lake.  There are already boxes located at Lake Minnetonka's Gray's Bay, Spring Park Bay and Maxwell Bay.

The program is put on by the Minnesota Water Safety Coalition made up of partners including the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office and North Memorial Medical Center.  Cabela's donated the life jackets.

Minnesota law requires a life jacket be available for every person on board a boat.  Those who are 10 and younger must wear a life jacket whenever the boat is in motion.
