A South High School social studies teacher has been charged after prosecutors say he stalked a student and tried to start a sexual relationship with her.

Forty-six-year-old Dan Arlen Anderson of Oakdale has been charged with attempted third-degree criminal sexual conduct and stalking of a victim under 18 years old, according to the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office.

According to the criminal complaint, a student at the school contacted police May 17 and said Anderson was trying to get her to engage in sexual acts with him.

Investigators confronted Anderson, and he admitted to asking for the student’s phone number and sending her dozens of text messages, including two texts with pictures of his penis, according to police. Anderson admitted he was trying to have a sexual relationship with the student.

His next hearing is scheduled for July 31.
