Man Presumed Drowned in Mississippi River

Emergency responders are resuming the search for a possible person in the Mississippi River.

The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office confirms to KSTP that a witness saw a person in the water near the Hennepin Avenue Bridge around 10:50 a.m. Tuesday and called 911. The Hennepin County Water Patrol, Minneapolis Fire Department, and Minneapolis Police Department all responded to the scene.

According to the sheriff’s office, responders saw a man and tried to get a rope to him, but he went underwater.

He has yet to be located and is believed to have drowned, according to a statement from the sheriff's office.

No other information has been released at this time.
