Charges have been filed against the driver of a truck that hit and killed a 33-year-old woman, as she was biking with her kids Monday in southwestern Minnesota.

The incident happened around 11:30 a.m. on Highway 270 in Rock County.

Andrea Boeve of Steen was on a bicycle carting her 1-year-old and 4-year-old daughters while heading east on the road.

A Chevy truck, driven by Christopher Weber of South Dakota, was also heading east on the highway. The truck collided with Boeve and her daughters, the state patrol says.

Boeve died on the scene. Her daughters were taken to Sanford Luverne Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Weber didn't have any apparent injuries

Weber faces charges of one count of criminal vehicular homicide and one count of criminal vehicular operation.

According to the county attorney, there is evidence Weber was distracted by his cellphone, which contributed as a cause of the crash.

Weber is expected to make his first court appearance Wednesday.
