For gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people and their supporters, June is a month of pride and celebration.
Around the globe, LGBT Pride Month has been marked with parades and marches, festivals and dances, and in some cases, protests and counter-protests. In the United States, much of the celebrations have focused on a string of victories in states where gay marriage bans were overturned.
Downtown Minneapolis was packed with supporters Sunday morning as the annual Twin Cities Pride Parade took place along Hennepin Avenue.
There were rainbow flags waving and people packing the street cheering and celebrating. Senators Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken could be seen marching in the parade.
The parade draws people from all across the state from all walks of life to come together to celebrate gay rights.
The Twin Cities Pride Festival wrapped up at Loring Park later in the day.
