A fire in St. Paul caught a lot of peoples' attention Sunday afternoon.

It started just before 1 p.m. on a railroad bridge in St. Paul near west 7th Street and Shepard Road.

Crews were initially called to the scene on a report of a possible brush fire and thick black smoke in the area. Firefighters arrived to instead find the fire extended 50 feet along the tracks.

Fighting the fire was difficult because it was hard for crews to access and connect to a water supply. Railroad ties are also difficult to put out because they are heavy timber.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
