The man who died after being crushed under a stack of wood while he was working in Minneapolis on Friday has been identified.

Travis James Carter of Ham Lake died at AA Container Sales Inc. on Humboldt Avenue from injuries he sustained in a workplace accident, according to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner. The 36-year-old was employed by the company.

Carter had been stacking bundles of a wood product with a forklift around 4 p.m. Friday. At some point, he apparently got off his fork truck; a stack of wood then fell and crushed him.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Minneapolis Police Department are investigating.

Friends and family say Carter has four children, and a memorial fund has been established to help them. Donations can be made at Wells Fargo to the Travis J. Carter Memorial Fund.
