The Minnesota Timberwolves selected Zach LaVine from UCLA with the 13th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.

The 19-year-old played just one season as a guard for UCLA before entering the draft, but was considered one of the most athletic prospects. In fact, Wolves coach and president of operations Flip Saunders told reporters that LaVine is the best athlete in the draft. Saunders said LaVine was ranked 7th on their board.

Standing at 6-foot-6, LaVine averaged 9.4 points per game and shot 37.5 percent from the 3-point line with the Bruins. He has the ability to play both guard positions.

The Minnesota Timberwolves also selected Glenn Robinson III with the 40th pick in the second-round of the 2014 NBA Draft.

Robinson is a small forward from Michigan who averaged 13.1 points and 4.4 rebounds during his sophomore year with the Wolverines.

Robinson is the son of former Purdue standout and NBA player Glenn Robinson.

The Timberwolves traded the 44th pick in the second-round to the Brooklyn Nets.

With the pick, the Wolves drafted Markel Brown for the Nets in a one-million dollar deal.

Brooklyn, hosting the draft at Barclays Center, was going to sit out the draft until being able to make the trade. General manager Billy King says the Nets considered buying a first-round pick but that the cost was too high.

The Wolves also drafted forward Alessandro Gentile from the Italian League with the 53rd pick. A source told the AP that the Wolves will trade Gentile to the Houston Rockets for cash considerations, but this has not yet confirmed.

The rumored Kevin Love trade did not occur during the draft despite continued talks with multiple teams.
