A 64-year-old man who was arrested after a woman's body was found in a wooded area in St. Paul has been released.
Police initially responded to a call around 9 p.m. Saturday about a possible dead baby in an area near Minnehaha Avenue. Police say they arrived to find, instead, an adult woman's body wrapped in a blanket. She has been identified as Rachel Nigusse by police.
John Stanton of St. Paul had been arrested Monday morning as a person of interest in connection to the death, according to police.
He was released Tuesday at noon, pending further investigation, Sgt. Paul Paulos said.
The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports Stanton lives in the area where Nigusse was found. A neighborhood resident discovered her body Saturday night.
After the discovery, police asked for the public's help to try to find out what happened and locate a suspect.
The St. Paul Police Department is continuing to investigate the case, Paulos said. They are working with the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office to determine a cause of death.
