A 64-year-old man has been arrested after the body of a 39-year-old St. Paul woman was found in a wooded area in St. Paul.

Police say John Stanton of St. Paul was arrested in connection to the death. He is a person of interest.

Police initially responded to a call around 9 p.m. Saturday about a possible dead baby in an area near Minnehaha Avenue. Police say they arrived instead to find an adult woman's body wrapped in a blanket. She has been identified as Rachel Nigusse by police.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports Stanton was booked into the Ramsey County Jail early Monday and lives in the area where Nigusse was found. A neighborhood resident discovered her body Saturday night.

After the discovery, police asked for the public's help to try to find out what happened and locate a suspect.

The case remains under investigation.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
