A former U.S. Congressman is speaking out against the Southwest Light Rail Transit line.
In a news conference Thursday, Martin Sabo asked Minneapolis city officials to vote "no" on the Met Council’s contentious proposal.
The line would run from Target Field to Eden Prairie and pass through five metro cities. All of the cities need to sign off on the project, but Minneapolis has said "no" so far.
Sabo represented Minnesota’s Fifth Congressional District for nearly 30 years and is a national expert on transportation policy and finance. He says he has concerns about the environment and the line’s cost effectiveness.
