Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton is proving an advantage of incumbency with a sizable cash-on-hand edge over the Minnesota Republicans looking to topple him.

Dayton entered June with more than $753,000 in the bank, according to finance reports made public Tuesday. His closest GOP competitor had about one-third of that amount.

Businessman Scott Honour had the most available money of the Republicans running with about $227,000 stocked up. He has loaned his campaign $300,000 this year. Behind him in order of cash on hand were former Rep. Marty Seifert, former House Speaker Kurt Zellers and Hennepin County Commissioner Jeff Johnson.

In recent years, groups that independently spend money on races have been big forces. Some of those political funds also made fundraising and spending details public by Tuesday.
