Target Apologizes to Customers after Glitch Causes Checkout Problems

Target stores across the nation were experiencing issues with their checkout systems Sunday. The problem has since been fixed.

"The glitch is causing delays at some checkouts but is not in any way related to a security issue," company spokeswoman Molly Snyder said in an email.

They apologized to anyone impacted and said they were working with guests in stores where the issue has not yet been resolved to accommodate their needs.

Shoppers started tweeting about waiting in long lines only to leave the store empty handed around 6 p.m. KSTP employees also reported having problems checking out. One employee said the registers at Midway Target in St. Paul weren't working at all.

Some customers also reported on Twitter they received free Starbucks and popcorn. Coupons were also handed out to customers impacted.

This recent trouble comes after a major data breach for the company at the end of last year.
