Protesters on Wednesday gathered in front of Target stores across the country, including the company’s flagship store in downtown Minneapolis and at the company’s annual shareholder’s meeting in Dallas, Texas.
The group Moms Demand Action For Gun Sense in America wants Target to ban customers from carrying guns openly into stores. The protests come after gun activists brought loaded semi-automatic weapons into Target stores in a number of states to show their right to bear arms.
The group collected more than 4,000 signatures in Minnesota and 160,000 nationwide.
Adding to the group’s outrage was a real gun found in the toy aisle of a South Carolina Target store.
Right now, Target says it won’t start a ban on open-carry and that it follows all state and federal laws.
