Some new road projects could impact your commute starting Monday. KSTP Traffic Reporter Josie Smith gives a quick preview with the Monday Cone Zone report.

Southbound Highway 169 will be closed at Bren Road in Edina beginning early Monday morning, June 9, through Monday, June 23. The closure will stretch from Bren Road to Valley View Road.

Your best bet around the work will be taking westbound Interstate 394, then southbound Interstate 494.

The closure is needed while crews resurface southbound Highway 169 between Bren Road and Highway 62. Current resurfacing work on southbound Highway 169 between Highway 62 and Valley View Road will continue through early July.

Drivers can also expect lane closures and delays on Highway 61 in White Bear Lake as crews begin resurfacing the roadway.

Starting at 7 a.m., both directions of Highway 61 between White Bear Avenue and just north of Highway 96 will be reduced to one lane.

In addition to road resurfacing, the project will include installing lighting, updating pedestrian crossings to meet accessibility standards, constructing a pedestrian trail, upgrading traffic and railway signals, replacing storm drains and other infrastructure.

The work is expected to be complete by fall 2014, weather permitting.
