Bears were spotted by Twin Cities residents in the south and east metros over the weekend.

A bear was spotted near Rivertown Drive in Woodbury on Sunday. Feon Tan says she was driving near her office when she spotted the bear.

"I was like, 'What is that? Let's get closer,' and then we get closer, and we get closer to the animal and then, 'It's a bear!'" Tan said.

Officials in Burnsville think a bear spotted near 134th Street and Parkwood Avenue on Sunday may be the same bear spotted and wounded in Savage last week.

Police said the bear was apparently badly wounded in its rear left leg, possibly from when it was shot by a Savage police officer. The bear caused children who walk or bike home from an elementary school on County Road 42 needing to be picked up by parents last Thursday.

When Burnsville police arrived to get the bear Sunday, it was gone.

Residents in Inver Grove Heights also reported a black bear roaming around the northern part of the city.

In Woodbury, another black bear could be seen walking around a business park on Sunday afternoon around 5 p.m.

Woodbury authorities said there have been reports of bear sightings over the past week and a half. They think the bear sightings in Woodbury are the same animal.
