A 26-year-old man was charged Monday in connection to the carjacking of a good Samaritan in Sherburne County.
Authorities say Gage Williams pretended to need help and then stole a woman’s car Wednesday night near Princeton.
The woman told police she found the man lying on the shoulder of County Road 2 around 10:45 p.m. with a bike on top of him.
When the woman stopped, the man ran to her car and started to drive away. The woman tried to stop the man, but he pushed her from the moving car and drove off, according to the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators say they were able to determine Williams was involved in the car theft and they notified surrounding law enforcement agencies.
On Friday, the Isanti County Sheriff's Office was told Williams was at a home in their county. Deputies were able to locate the stolen 2001 Grand Am at the home.
Authorities say Williams was found Friday with the keys in his pocket.
Williams was charged with simple robbery. Authorities say he remains in the Sherburne County Jail.
