Veterans have stepped up to help Heidi Krause, after she filed a sexual harassment complaint against her boss, who happens to head up the Goodhue County Veterans Services Office.
Krause filed the complaint two months ago, which 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS first reported last week. She has served veterans for 14 years in the Goodhue County Veterans Services Office. Krause has been on leave ever since she filed the complaint against her boss, Veterans Service Officer, Lyman "Robbie" Robinson. Krause filed the complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Office.
Krause claims she had a meeting with Robinson on his first day at his new job and his "eyes moved down my body and he stared at my breasts for at least five to ten seconds", according to her complaint.
Krause says she is particularly angry because Robinson was disciplined for "staring at the breasts of multiple female employees" while he was the Veterans Services Officer in 2010, for Washington County.
Krause says Goodhue County officials overlooked, or missed, his disciplinary record in Washington County before they hired him. Goodhue County Board Chairman, Ron Allen, tells 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS "had I known about his disciplinary record before we hired him, I might not have voted to approve of his hiring in March of this year."
Some veterans with the Minnesota National Guard, who have worked closely with Krause, are now coming to her defense. Retired Sgt. Chip Leitner tells 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS, "I will not use the Veterans Services Office here in Goodhue County until he (Robinson) is gone."
Leitner is a retired Iraq war veteran who says he, and other members of his National Guard unit, have called Goodhue County Board members asking them to "do the right thing" and either remove Robinson from his position, or make sure Krause is able to return to work.
We have tried repeatedly, over several days, to reach Robinson, for comment, but he has not yet returned our calls. He is also the Mayor of Cannon Falls, which is a part-time position.
