A Minneapolis police officer was hurt while responding to a report of shots fired in North Minneapolis on Friday, according to police.
Deputy Chief of Investigations Kristine Arneson said two people were fighting when the shots were fired around 3:30 p.m. near 23rd Avenue North and Third Street.
When officers arrived on the scene, they saw two suspects running from the scene; shots were fired and one of the suspects was hit, Arneson said.
Arneson said the officer was injured during a foot chase. Police would not release any further details on the injury and only said the officer was not shot by the suspects.
The officer was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The two suspects were arrested and taken to the hospital.
A handgun was recovered at the scene, Arneson said. No additional suspects are being sought.
The incident is under investigation. More details are expected to be released next week at the earliest.
