A woman was taken to the hospital after she was pinned underneath the wheel of a school bus Thursday afternoon, according to police.
Minneapolis police said the woman was walking north on Second Avenue at 12:15 p.m. as the bus was turning left onto Second Avenue on a green light. Police said the school bus driver did not see the woman.
She was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center with a severe leg injury, according to police.
The bus driver had just dropped off seventh- and eighth-grade students from Webster, Wisconsin, at Target Field for a Twins game. The kids didn't see the accident, police said.
Police arrived on the scene and were able to move the bus off the woman. She was then transported to Hennepin County Medical Center where she was breathing and able to communicate.
A spokesperson for the school said the driver has driven for the district for many years and had never been involved in an accident before.
Police say drug and alcohol tests on the driver appear negative.
