The Metropolitan Council and the Hennepin County Regional Railroad Authority will hold a hearing Thursday evening on design plans for the new Southwest Light Rail Transit line.
The meeting starts with an open house at 5 p.m. at the Hennepin County Government Center followed by a hearing at 6 p.m.
In April, the Met Council approved a route without the support of the city of Minneapolis. The sticking point is how the light rail, freight trains, and a bike path will share the Kenilworth Corridor. A hearing on May 12 was canceled because materials with information on the light rail needed to be updated with the new changes.
Thursday's hearing is part of the municipal consent process. All cities along the route need to sign off on the $1.7 billion plan. This is expected by July 14.
