The Minnesota State Patrol says two men were killed when one of them drove the wrong way on an interstate in southern Minnesota.

The crash happened shortly before 7 p.m. Wednesday on Interstate 35 near Albert Lea near the Iowa border. The patrol says 46-year-old Kirt Schmidt of Owatonna was traveling south in the northbound lanes and collided with a car driven by 28-year-old James Winnes, of Albert Lea. Winnes' vehicle was pushed into a semi.

Both Schmidt and Winnes died at the scene of the collision. There were no passengers in their vehicles. The Albert Lea Tribune says the trucker wasn't injured.
