Following a hard winter, legislators dedicated $15 million to pothole repair: $10 million for state highways and $5 million for city and county roads.
The city of Minneapolis dedicated an additional $1 million to fund additional crews to fill potholes.
Mike Kennedy, Director of Transportation, Maintenance and Repair in the city's Public Works Department, says the additional money made a difference.
"What it did do is allow us to get out there and double our efforts for a couple of months to take care of the worst of the problems to bring us back to a point where we're average," he said.
Kennedy says the wet spring weather slowed efforts early on but that crews have caught up.
