Rain has flooded a number of streets in St. Cloud Monday afternoon.

Some cars were stuck in the flooded areas, which included Ninth Ave./10th Ave. S under the Highway 23 bridge.

"As we were driving, it was like splashing up on our windows and it was like coming up on both sides of the car. There were cars starting to get stuck. The way we wanted to go there was so much water that people were actually reversing because they couldn't turn around, and no one was understanding that there was no getting through some of these puddles." said Rachel Hobbs who was caught in the rain. Hobbs made it home safely.

St. Cloud Police say the sewers just couldn't handle so much water so quickly. Police say this actually happens a few times a year.

Police say no injuries were reported, and the sewers eventually caught up to the water.

Radar indicated up to 2 inches of rain fell in less than an hour in some spots in the St. Cloud area.

According to the St. Cloud Times, St. Cloud entered Monday with more than eight inches of rain in the month of May, which is five inches higher than the monthly average of 2.95 inches.
