A Coon Rapids man died after the car he was in hit two other vehicles on Interstate 35 late Sunday night, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The state patrol says a 1990 Dodge Dakota was stopped in the left lane on I-35 northbound in Rice County. A 2004 Toyota Sienna was driving on the interstate and swerved to avoid the Dakota, the state patrol says. It then pulled over on the shoulder and activated its hazards.
A northbound 2008 Toyota Sienna then side-swiped the Dakota before striking the other Toyota, the state patrol says.
Thirty-nine-year-old Mach Kuel, a passenger in the 2008 Toyota, died.
None of the other six people in the three cars were injured.
The Faribault Police Department and the Rice County Sheriff's Office assisted.
