The next time you catch a trophy muskie in Minnesota, chances are you won't be able to keep it.
Governor Mark Dayton just signed a bill that raises the minimum size for muskie in Minnesota from 48 inches to 54 inches.
Around 50 inches is generally thought to be a trophy fish that one might consider putting up on the wall.
The new regulation effectively makes Minnesota catch-and-release only on muskie.
Muskies Inc. and the Minnesota Pike and Muskie Alliance pushed for the change. It doesn't go into effect until next year's fishing season.
