A Cottage Grove man has been sentenced to nearly five years in prison for the overdose death of a woman back in December.
Twenty-year-old Adam David Wickard pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter for the death of a 20-year-old Cottage Grove woman.
According to the criminal complaint, Wickard and the woman were at a party on Dec. 14, 2013. They left to go to McDonald’s, and when they returned witnesses said she couldn’t talk and had to be carried downstairs.
When Wickard awakened the next day, he was afraid she had died, but prosecutors say he left for a job interview instead of calling 911. The woman was later found dead from methadone toxicity, according to the medical examiner.
Investigators say Wickard’s phone showed a history of dealing illegal and prescription drugs.
