Law Enforcement Searches for Fugitive in Rochester Area

The Olmsted County Sheriff's Office has confirmed to KSTP sister station ABC 6 News they were searching for a fugitive in Southwest Rochester Wednesday.

The Olmsted County Sheriff's Office says it received information Wednesday 48-year-old Gregory Ahlers.Ahlers was at a house in Southwest Rochester. They set up a perimeter in the area, but Ahlers was able to get away from authorities.

Law enforcement tried apprehending Ahlers three times in the past two weeks, but he was able to escape authorities each time.

Ahlers is not believed to be armed.

The Olmsted County Sheriff's Office, The Rochester Police Department, and the Minnesota State Patrol were all on scene Wednesday. Police K-9's were also on hand.

People living in the area have told ABC 6 News they received a recorded message around 7:30 p.m. from the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office telling them to stay inside and secure their doors.

Residents in the area were urged not to approach Ahlers, and call 911.
