The Minnesota Gopher baseball team lost to Michigan Wednesday in their first game of the Big Ten Tournament.

A three run home-run from Michigan's Travis Maezes in the bottom of the 7th inning pushed the Wolverines to a 3-2 victory over the Gophers.

Michigan out-hit Minnesota 11 to 6, with the Gophers knocking-out two runs in fourth and fifth inning.

The Gophers will face eighth-seeded Iowa in the elimination game at 1:00 p.m. Thursday. The tournament is being played at TD Ameritrade Park, home of the College World Series, in Omaha, Nebraska.

The Gophers clinched the fourth-seed in the tournament after defeating Indiana 2-1 last week. Michigan was pushed to the fifth-seed with two losses to the Gophers back in April.

Minnesota falls to 27-23 on the season. With 29 Big Ten Tournament appearances, the Gophers had participated more than any other team in the conference.

They have won nine Big Ten Tournament titles to date with their last title coming in 2010.

Two Gopher players have recently been awarded conference honors. Senior right-hander Alec Crawford was named to the All-Big Ten Third Team and catcher Austin Athmann was named to the All-Big Ten Freshman Team.
