Another Republican in the running for the Minnesota governor's office has picked a running mate.
Hennepin County Commissioner Jeff Johnson on Wednesday named former Rochester Rep. Bill Kuisle as his choice for lieutenant governor. Johnson is battling for the GOP endorsement to be decided at the party's state convention next weekend in Rochester and says he'll leave the race if a different candidate gets it.
Kuisle is a farmer who has been out of office since 2004. Johnson says he has the appropriate expertise in and outside of government.
Meanwhile, fellow candidate Marty Seifert declined to say Wednesday if he'll head to an August primary without the convention endorsement. Only Johnson and state Sen. Dave Thompson are all-in next weekend. Rep. Kurt Zellers and businessman Scott Honour are primary-bound.
