He's being called "Bambi," and for good reason.
Thanks to a fast-thinking Good Samaritan and a pocket knife, a deer is alive.
Driving home from church on Sunday, Bill Schulte saw a deer get hit by a car in Prior Lake and stopped to move the dead animal off the road.
Schulte noticed an unborn fawn kicking inside and quickly used his pocket knife to cut it to freedom.
"I felt where the baby was, opened up, and pulled the baby out because the baby wanted to slide right out, and I cleared his throat, his airway, rubbing it, and it starting breathing; everything was cool," Schulte said.
The fawn was taken to the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of Minnesota in Roseville; it's expected to make a full recovery.
