The families of the children killed and injured during a field trip at Lilydale Regional Park have reached a settlement with the St. Louis Park School District.

Nine-year-old Haysem Sani, 10-year-old Mohamed Fofana died in the landslide last May. Ten-year-old Devin Meldahl, suffered skull, leg and rib fractures.

The children were part of a group from Peter Hobart Elementary School in St. Louis Park that went fossil-hunting at the park.

Two city-funded investigations last year found that city employees knew of past landslides in the park but could not have predicted the tragedy.

The district's communications manager did not release the dollar amount of the settlement. The district says it is "pleased that a settlement was reached."

The city of St. Paul agreed to pay $1 million in a separate settlement to the families invovled.
