As the Minnesota Wild and Chicago Blackhawks began their NHL playoffs series Friday night, communities from each state are hoping to emerge victorious in another competition.

Cottage Grove, Minn., and Carpentersville, Ill. are among the finalists for a $100,000 dream trail project competition sponsored by Bell Bicycling and Motorcycle Helmets.

Projects in Colorado and Indiana are also being considered. Voting ends midnight Sunday to determine which community will receive funds to build a bike park.

The Cottage Grove project is sponsored by Minnesota Off-Road Cyclists, and sits on three acres of land within a residential park. The final vision of the park will contain a 4X race track, two pump tracks, a tot track, slopestyle course, a mountain bike skills course and dirt jumps.

The Cottage Grove park is expected to be completed by 2016.
