Minneapolis police had to break up a group of protesters who took over a downtown intersection during an immigration reform rally Thursday around rush hour.

The crowd locked arms and blocked the intersection at Fourth Street and Fourth Avenue for a short time around 5 p.m.

According to police, bystanders were upset that people are rioting. Police had to step in to prevent violence against protesters, police said.

Asamblea leaders gathered at the Hennepin County Government Center for a community-wide rally. They are calling for a stop to the deportations that have torn apart families and communities.
