Lowertown Ballpark received a $747,900 grant from Ramsey County Thursday for environmental remediation efforts.
The grant, called the Environmental Response Fund, will be used to clean the polluted soil at the site of the new Saint Paul Saint's ballpark.
Lowertown Ballpark is being built on the former Diamond Products factory, which is polluted from its previous use as a coal gas manufacturing site.
The cleanup efforts are nearing completion and construction of the ballpark began in April. The Saints are expected to be playing on the new field in spring of 2015.
