A benefit for an area high schooler battling bone cancer was held Thursday night in St. Paul.

Casey's Cancer Bash was held at O'Gara's Bar & Grill in St. Paul to support cancer research. Casey O'Brien is a football, hockey and lacrosse player at Cretin-Derham Hall High School.

O'Brien and his family have been keeping a journal documenting his fight. He has been receiving chemotherapy at Amplatz Children's Hospital.

Cretin-Derham Hall has also been supportive, including last December when students at the school recorded and sent O'Brien a Christmas Carol.

O'Brien is a big Minnesota Wild fan, and as you could imagine was in favor of the team's 5-4 overtime win against the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday night.

The family is accepting donations to help O'Brien in his fight.
