The 65-year-old man who died during a hit-and-run in North Minneapolis Friday night has been identified.
According to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner, Charles Lord of Minneapolis died from injuries he sustained when he was hit by a van near the intersection of West Broadway Ave. and Logan Ave. North around 10:10 p.m.
According to police, the van drove up on the sidewalk, hit Lord and dragged him for a short distance. Lord had severe injuries and was being helped by witnesses when officers arrived.
Describing the crash, witness Corey Culberson said, "It was just like thunder...It was a dust cloud."
Witnesses told police the driver took off from the scene on foot. The van came to a rest after hitting a building on Broadway Ave., police reported.
Describing the victim, Culberson said, "His eyes were open. I could tell you what color eyes he had. And he was like deep, heavy breathing, like he was snoring."
Eric Lee, 32, was arrested at 11:15 a.m. Saturday and booked into Hennepin County Jail on probable cause criminal vehicular operation. A mug shot has not been made available.
Lord was taken to North Memorial Medical Center where he died from his injuries. The medical examiner ruled Lord's death as an accident.
The Minneapolis Police are continuing the investigate the incident.
