The Minnesota orchestra announced Thursday its long time conductor is coming back.
Osmo Vänskä has agreed to return for at least the next two seasons.
Vänskä resigned as music director and conductor in October in the middle of the orchestra's 15-month lockout.
Under his new contract, Vänskä will receive the same pay cut as the musicians received in their agreement.
He'll officially return to the podium on May 1.
The musicians released the following statement:
"The musicians are truly excited by the board's decision to bring back Osmo as Music Director. This is a major step in rebuilding the trust and collaborative spirit within our organization as well as with our community. We very much look forward to further collaboration with Osmo, our Board, and our community to continue to build upon the Minnesota Orchestra's 110-year legacy of artistic excellence."
