A 28-year-old woman has been arrested after two dead horses were found in Hubbard County two weeks ago.
The horses had died from apparent starvation, authorities said. An investigation showed the horses had not had access to food or water since early April.
Authorities said Minden Crenshaw of Park Rapids admitted to owning the young horses and tying them to a tree on her neighbor's property near Dorset because her mother would not let her keep them.
Crenshaw moved out of her mother's house in early April and stopped taking care of the horses, authorities said.
An investigation revealed there was no shelter for the horses for the past three months.
Crenshaw made her first appearance in Hubbard County District Court on Monday for felony charges of animal neglect.
