From hail to tornadoes, Minnesota can see it all this time of year. To get you prepared, the state is kicking off Severe Weather Awareness Week.
Joe Kelly with the department of public safety stopped by KSTP to talk about how this week is a great time to make and practice your emergency plan and build an emergency kit.
Each day of the week will focus on a different topic:
Officials say two of the most important events during Severe Weather Awareness Week are the annual statewide tornado drills. These drills are scheduled for Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 1:45 p.m. and 6:55 p.m.
The first two tornadoes of 2014 damaged property near Minneota and St. Leo in late March.
