The Boston Marathon will take place on Monday, but a Minnesota service member took part in the big day from the other side of the world.
Each year, thousands in the armed forces participate in the "Boston Marathon Shadow Run." Plymouth native Josh Peterson won this year at the Bagram Air Field in Afghanistan.
Peterson clocked in with a time of 2 hours, 39 minutes and 10 seconds. He said this is his ninth marathon, but it's the first time he's ever won.
"You've got people here who really want to be here and serve this country," Peterson said. "It was a really fun experience getting to run with all the soldiers, airmen and sailors out here."
