In honor of playoff season, it’s time to grow out your facial hair!

The Minnesota Wild kicked off its Beard-a-Thon on Wednesday to raise money for its foundation. During the Beard-a-Thon, fans are encouraged to start with a clean face and then not shave until the Wild are knocked out of the Stanley Cup Playoffs or until they take home the Stanley Cup.

The Wild take on the Colorado Avalanche in the first round of the playoffs beginning Thursday night.

To kick off the tradition, some local personalities cleaned off their stubble at Xcel Energy Center on Wednesday.

Fans dropped by for a free hotdog lunch and a chance to win playoff tickets, and attendees who make a donation of $10 or more received an official Minnesota Wild “Fear the Beard” T-shirt.

The event ran from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
